On Tuesday 15th February, Durham County Council (DCC) will decide whether to give UK Coal planning permission to work the Bradley opencast site near Leadgate. The Case Officer recommendation is that Durham County Council should approve the Application.

The Durham’s Development Control and Regulatory Board meeting starts at 2.30pm.

The local campaign group No Opencast Today or Tomorrow (NOTT) are organising a demonstration to persuade DCC to reject the application. They are inviting anyone who objects to opencast planning applications to join with them to show that this is not just a local Durham problem but it is a National problem. The demonstration, outside of Durham County Council HQ, starts at 2.00pm.
